Twelve Tags of Christmas: Day 8

Eight Maids a-Milking

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three french hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

I am starting my (fingers crossed) very creative 2019 with The Eighth Tag of Christmas. Just like yesterday’s tag, this one also wishes you JOY… because, well, it’s nice to have a lot of joy. Unlike the previous tag, however, this one is a bit more complex.

For this tag I actually used elements from three different Graphic 45 collections: the maid (and the complementary cow) are from The Twelve Days of Christmas; the house was cut from French Country paper; and the background and stickers are from Once Upon a Springtime. Yes, I used Once Upon a Springtime for a Christmas tag, isn’t that funny? But hey, don’t you think that the bonnet-wearing yellow-blue birds in the background perfectly match the bonnet-wearing maid in a yellow-blue dress? In any case, it was a fun experiment, using a spring paper collection for a very wintery project, and, in my opinion, it worked well.

To make the tag more Christmasy, I applied a bit of snow everywhere: above the stickers, at the cow’s feet, along the edges, and on the windows of the house. This is truly a Christmas miracle, as it doesn’t looks like it will snow anytime soon in London.

Clearly, the maid was also taken by surprise, as, despite standing in the snow, she is still wearing a light dress (but we’ll look past that).

With this tag I am participating in Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge.

JOY!
